Digitization
Digitization process began in cooperation with Jefferson Institute (www.jeffersoninst.org) during 2006, with a generous support of the Kingdom of Norway. During this period:
- ADA software was created (Archives Digitization Application) for managing the process of scanning, entry of metadata and accommodation of digitized archival material to server,
- Digital library was formed for access to digitized archival material, and,
- Security of space for digitization and digitized archival material was improved by introducing video surveillance and access ID cards for all users of the digital library.
So far, close to 3 million pages have been digitized. Digitization encompassed the oldest archival material, as well as the damaged material and material in bad condition, so it is not given for use, except in the digital form, for the sake of protection from further deterioration.
Since December 2016 the Military Archives replaced the existing ADA software with the new IDA 2.0 (Digital Archives Informational System) created by Tehniss Systems Company from Belgrade which accelerated and faciliated digitization process.
